Bringing down the house at Paladino's

Thanks to everyone who came to our show last weekend at Paladino's.  We had a great turnout, and the whole night really rocked.  There's always a lot of energy in the room when we play at Paladino's and this last show was no exception.  When Pretentious first started, Paladino's was the first venue we ever played (three years ago!).  So, we always like to circle back when we can.

TNT followed Pretentious with a pounding set of AC/DC favorites.  Filling in with TNT for the night was Pretentious drummer, Eddie De Joy.  A TNT set always gets the crowd pumped up!

The Saloonatics rounded out the night, with a blistering set of rock classics.  Wow, definitely a group of gifted performers and we hope to play with them again.

Our next show will be Saturday night, February 27th -- where we'll be hitting the stage with our favorite show-mates, TNT, once again at the Brixton.  You can get all the details, including links for advance discount tickets to the show from our website.  Mark your calendars, it will be a good one.

Rocking for a Cause:

Once again, Pretentious will be donating $1 for every Pretentious attendee to Rover Rescue, a local animal shelter.  Please make sure you mention "Pretentious" at the door to ensure the donation.

Genz Benz Open House, featuring Jeff Genzler and Mike Bear

Mike will be doing a clinic from 12-4pm this Saturday, December 12th at Instrumental Music in Thousand Oaks.

If you're a bass player, you'll want to be there! Get a hands-on look at the latest Genz Benz bass rigs, which Mike likes to rock at our Pretentious shows.

Bring your bass, plug in, and find your tone!

We've added lots of new shows, starting with a return to The Brixton in Redondo Beach -- this time with Dead Man's Party, an Oingo Boingo Tribute.  We've played with DMP before, and if you haven't seen them before you should definitely check them out!  They play all the crazy, cool Oingo Boingo classics....good times!

Again, we can't say enough about the Brixton.  Just a great venue and one of the best places to see live music in the greater L.A. area.

Pretentious will also be making a guest appearance at Howl at The Moon on Wednesday, November 25th at Universal City Walk.  Howl nights are always a blast and you never know who will show up!

Once again, Pretentious will be donating $1 to a local animal rescue for each Pretentious fan counted (you must say you're there to see Pretentious at the door). Pretentious launched our "Rock4Paws" effort with our last Brixton show, and were able to donate a modest but greatly appreciated sum to Rover Rescue, a local dog rescue in Redondo Beach.  So, simply put, by coming to a show you'll be helping to support a great cause while getting to experience a great rock show.  With state and local funds being squeezed by more and more budget cuts, there are many animals caught in the crossfire who need help with interim shelter while awaiting good homes. 

We'll be donating to Rover Rescue once again for our Dec 12th show, and will be choosing other local rescues for the rest of the upcoming shows.  If there's a local rescue/shelter you'd like to recommend, let us know.

We recently made our rounds in the O.C. (The Galaxy Theatre, Blue Cafe HB, and Marlin Bar and Grill) and had ourselves a blast.

So now we'll be coming to the South Bay in October, so get ready to ROCK, everyone!

On Saturday, October 3rd, we'll be at The Cellar in Long Beach with Candy-O (Cars Tribute) and Led Zepland.  Then on Saturday, October 17th, we'll be at The Brixton in Redondo Beach with TNT (AC/DC Tribute).

These are going to be super-fun shows and we can't wait!

Okay, so, there are a few things to consider when creating a new band blog apparently.

Hm...should EVERYONE in the band be allowed to post?  That could be dangerous!  I'll ponder this one for a bit while I continue to work on a new web site design.
